It is also available wherever you stream music but being true to their aesthetic, Canada’s rockinist rockabilly band the Shook Boys just released their first 45rpm single and it hits hard. The band draws inspiration from the 1950s rock and roll era while infusing a modern sound that pushes the boundaries of rockabilly. This sound has them fitting right in with the fact they are a part of the LA-based, Wild Records. The double A sides single features the band’s original songs “Tell On You” and “Dead by 22”. Both songs were recorded at Ganaraska Recording Company and self-produced by the band.

“Tell On You” written by Murry Robe; on the surface, the song showcases a sweeter sound for Shook Boys, but the lyrics, brimming with wit & lines about  infidelity, and potential violence stays true to Shook Boy ethos. Listeners will probably be dancing too hard the first few spins, before they get hep to the words. The song also features Jesse Whiteley on piano.

“Dead By 22” written by Big Mark, the song is a loving tribute to juvenile delinquency, and square parents that don’t get the need for kicks. Featuring the sound of a Danelectro Bass VI, this track gets low enough for a sewer rat’s sock hop.

Shook Boys are a talented and dedicated rockabilly band with a promising future. Their commitment to honoring the genre’s roots while pushing it forward sets them apart from other bands in the genre. With their growing fanbase and plans to expand their reach, Shook Boys is a band to watch in the coming years.
