Cashbox Canada and Spike Bulgarian Music Festival Present Showcase in Plovdiv, Bulgaria

Submitted by Sandy Graham

Cashbox Canada and Record World International magazines are hosting a special performance showcase Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the Spike Bulgarian Music Festival in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. As we believe music has no borders, we have chosen three special bands to perform from 8-11 pm as a kick-off party event.

What better way to start a global showcase than to kick it off with a local Bulgarian band!

Time Jugglers formed in 2016 and from day one were hitting audiences with the whole spectrum of rock, from alternative to heavy metal to blues. After their first album, “Stories in Time” (2019), they conducted a successful tour of the country, and their track “Hot Fire” caught the attention of Classic Rock Magazine. Their single “Spineless,” featuring Svetlana Bliznakova of SEVI, was on Z-Rock’s Top 30 for 13 weeks.

No strangers to Canada, Cashbox first met this dynamic duo was in Newfoundland, and we are honoured that they will be on stage here at Spike 2023.

Bara Jonson and Free were nominated ‘Best Emerging Artist – International’ at Indie Week Showcase Festival in Toronto, Canada (2019), then selected and announced INES#Talent 2020-21. They call their music Crockpop (Country/Rock/Pop. Signed to a Canadian management company Entertainment Music Group (EMG) for the Americas and MusicHelp for Sweden and Europe the duo has become a frequent feature on the live stages around Sweden. Their tours have also reached into Denmark, Holland, Germany, UK and Canada. 2021 they performed at Musikhjälpen whose mission is to create awareness of and fundraise for selected catastrophes. The same year they started their own festival, Lilla By Festivalen that in 2022 had grown into a hybrid festival; somewhere in between music festival and a Showcase.

2022 started with the Mood Indigo virtual festival, Bombay together with Cirque Arté Diem, then the fantastic showcase festival Future Echoes in Norrköping. They opened, together with Cirque Arté Diem, Byggnad’s 2022 Congress in Stockholm. They gave four performances together during one and the same day at Kristianstad’s wonderful theater, on Culture Night. Last February Bara Jonson and Free participated in a VIP Party at the Canadian Swedish Embassy in Stockholm prior to showcasing in Norrkoping, Sweden at Future Echoes.

Bara Jonson and Free are next headed to North America’s largest festival in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to perform at Summerfest and plans for further touring in 2024 announced shortly.

Travelling directly from Montreal, Quebec, Canada to make their debut appearance at Spike, these are 4 girls not afraid to kick ass and deliver a phenomenal performance each time they set foot on stage!

Bad Skin love to take every opportunity to show the world what they are capable of! They played a lot of shows and festivals in Quebec: Pouzza Fest, 77 Festival, Rockfest pour la santé mentale, Le Phoque Off , Music4Cancer, Pop Montreal, Scheduled tour in UK July 2022 and many more! Throughout the festivals they met and spend time with their main inspiration, the members of L7. They went on an adventure, the biggest convention in the world at Cannes for MIDEM 2019 and in 2022 they toured the UK for 5 days.

With great support from their Canadian-based label, Dance Plant Records, a lot of things happened since they started… it’s hard to keep up but don’t worry I’ll take you back to the beginning! It all started with Dope, (signer/ rhythm guitarist) from Laval. Since birth, she knew she would leave her mark on the world. Everywhere she goes people always remember her phenomenal energy, no one even knows when she sleeps! In late 2016 she wanted to start a crazy all-girl Punk/Rock Band and quickly found her accomplices! With some flyers and posters, she eventually met Caro (lead guitarist) and automatically knew it was a match in heaven… hell they have the same brain! Afterwards, thanks to Facebook she found the sweet, adorable and very smart Aurély (bassist) and the final missing piece, that pop red cherry on a Sunday, the beast, Christine (drums).

With passion and dedication, they had one mission in mind, speak for the voiceless! They connect with their fans in the most incredible way and they help them raise awareness about daily injustices through their songs. Soon enough they were signed by Dance Plant Records who is helping and mentoring them along the way to be the best version of themselves and take off on that unbelievable journey…. which is just starting!
