The time-honoured Burt Bacharach/Hal David collaboration famously performed by the legendary Dionne Warwick, was an instant hit upon its 1963 release, topping the Billboard Hot 100 and Cashbox R & B charts. JC’s 2025 version pays homage to the soulful 1986 arrangement released by the late great Luther Vandross, in a unique duet form with Toronto Based R & B vocalist Carlos Budd Ford.

JC Sol explains: “This particular song has so much meaning, not only to me, but to so many who have been exposed to the wonder of these early recordings, whether it be through their own record collection or that of their parents and/or grandparents. In short, it’s been a dream come true to be able to realize my own vocally collaborative vision of the song with the exceptional production skills of Texas based producer and musician Johnny E. Stewart.”
Featuring Vince Wiley on keys, Clay Benjamin on guitar, Jay Williams on drums and Stewart on Bass and strings, Stewart’s masterfully skilled arranging and production expertise were exactly what was required to deliver that Smooth Jazz/R & B vibe. Not to mention Canadian musician and producer Michael Shotton’s role as Vocal Producer which was essential to the production’s slick and polished sound. Along with his innate talent and penchant for perfection, Shotton’s skill in layering stunning harmonies and getting the best vocal delivery from his artists are what helps to make JC’s signature sound unique.
