We would love to say that it all began 2021 at Lilla By Festivalen, our own little festival in the south of Sweden. But that wouldn’t be the truth.
The band had already started in 2019 when the members met at Stockholm’s Aesthetic High School and formed the band MISU. The band consists of Lin Björk on guitar and Eje Adevik (Charlie Mango) on bass, who both do vocals,as well as Victor Holmström on drums.
During their last year, the band released their first EP “Songs for a pretty smoker”. They also managed to do one gig before the whole world closed down for the pandemic.
Linn who writes the songs together with Eje has also been doing backing vocals for the well renowned popular Swedish band, Bob Hund and performed with them at Allsång på Skansen, TV4, Gröna Lund, Propahgandafestivalen, Kulturnatten, and more. MISU write their music with inspiration from the folk punk scene but also carries elements of singer-songwriter, with introspective and personal lyrics accompanied by dist noise and rattling guitar and bass strings.
In 2021, when the restrictions started to lift, they applied and were accepted to perform at Lilla By Festivalen. As they networked with the music industry delegates present they were encouraged to apply to Future Echoes, one of the major showcase festivals in Sweden, for 2023. At Future Echoes they continued with what they do best. Play their music for an excited growing crowd. So, we invited them back to Lilla By later that Summer.
At Lilla By Festivalen they impressed the people behind another festival with their energy and great music they received an invitation to perform at the SPIKE Showcase 2024 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The band are really excited for the trip and grateful to get the opportunity to be able to show the Bulgarian people their music, live. And we know they’re gonna love it there!
But MISU isn’t stopping with there. They are on a roll.
This Summer they will be busy appearing in a musical adaptation of the world-famous Russian theater play “The Seagull” by Anton Chekhov. MISU has written all the music in the musical and will be portraying the kitchen helpers while simultaneously being the orchestra.
So if you are in the neighbourhood, you will have a chance to come to a MISU show..
Don’t miss out!
